ACTIONAID and FH55 Hotels project in Myanmar

In 2017, FH55 Hotels Group funded ActionAid's locally managed tourism project in Myanmar, Yin Taing Taung Dam.

The project successfully generated an alternative source of income for the 1,200 families in the four local communities – who relied mostly on agriculture – and also helped women in the community gain recognition for their equal rights and dignity.

Unfortunately, travel to Mynamar was brought to a complete halt by the Covid-19 epidemic in 2020 and the military coup in February 2021.

The situation in Myanmar is very dire and all funds raised in recent years have been used for the emergency response, also in the four villages, with the delivery of basic commodities, hygiene kits, economic aid, and access to water.

Half of the economic aid provided by the FH55 Hotels Group contributed to the purchase of clean water for children, women and men in Myang.

The remainder of our Group’s donation will be used to install purification equipment, which has already been planned, although the project is currently on hold due to ongoing conflicts making it difficult for workers with expertise in installing water purification systems to pass through the various checkpoints.

Effective use of the aid received will be crucial in satisfying one of the primary needs of local communities during periods of water shortage.

At this particularly difficult time, we wish to support the many families in Myanmar and above all, the Burmese women.
