New Year’s Eve events in Rome

As the countdown to New Year's Eve begins, Rome is buzzing with excitement and anticipation for the 2024 New Year’s Eve celebrations.

There are numerous events in Rome to celebrate the new year in an original way and if you haven’t already planned anything and you’re asking yourself “What can I do on New Year’s Eve 2024 in Rome?”, we can provide you with the answers you are looking for!

New Year’s Eve in piazza

The big New Year’s concert in Rome is being held at the Circo Massimo with the participation of Blanco, Lazza and Francesca Michielin. They will be the main artists performing on the stage of “Roma 2024. You are here”, a completely free event to collectively welcome 2024 in Rome’s iconic location.

New Year’s Eve at the theater

But if you’d rather spend New Year’s Eve in a more intimate setting, we recommend Enrico Brignano's show, which will return on 31 December at the Auditorium della Conciliazione, with an event specially designed to celebrate the New Year.

If you are in the mood for a more reflective evening, you can watch Edoardo Leo’sTi racconto una storia” at the Auditorium Parco della Musica. The show is a performance-reading based on anecdotes that the actor and director from Rome has amassed throughout his career.

If you are looking for other shows to celebrate the New Year in Rome, look no further than the Sala Umberto, where Carlo Buccirosso will be holding a special New Year’s Eve show with Il Vedovo Allegro.

On New Year’s Eve, there will also be plenty of thought-provoking performances such as Mine Vaganti, directed by the renowned director Ferzan Ozpetek at the Ambra Jovinelli theater.

For a more traditional way to welcome in the New Year, don’t miss the New Year’s Concert, presented by the Orchestra de I Virtuosi dell’Opera di Roma, with soloists, S. Testa, A. Gentili and M. Utzeri. You will be caught up in the magical atmosphere of the beautiful Church of Saint Paul within the walls of Rome, as you witness some of the best-loved pieces of classical music, including waltzes and arias.

And if you’re in the mood for some soul music, head to the Sala Sinopoli of the Auditorium Parco della Musica for the Great Gospel. This unique show, starting at 9 pm, will feature the promising vocals of Kaylah Harvey & The Bronx Black Kayes. Kaylah, a singer from the Bronx, is known for the relaxed and expressive quality of her voice, which blends beautifully with the intense timbre of the music.

Meanwhile, the new ballet season of the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma continues along the lines of the recent years, underscoring the work to enhance ballet culture by the Corps de Ballet director, Eleonora Abbagnato. For 31 December, The Nutcracker, a grand production faithfully based on Marius Petipa’s original version of the traditional classical ballet with music by Tchaikovsky, awaits you.

Whatever your tastes and preferences, there are many ways to celebrate the arrival of the New Year in Rome. So, round up your friends and loved ones and get ready to welcome in 2024 in style!

New Year’s Eve dining

If you are looking for a more intimate experience without a nod to tradition, consider booking a table at the Grand Hotel Palatinowhere a sumptuous New Year's Eve menu is planned for 31 December.

New Year’s Day

For anyone who decides to spend the first night of the year at the Grand Hotel Palatino, or who treats themselves to the wide choice on our New Year’s Day brunch menu, we also recommend spending the evening of January 1st at the Teatro Brancaccio, where Lorella Cuccarini will be presenting her musical dedicated to “Rapunzel”. It promises to be a magical experience for the whole family, with breathtaking performances and enchanting music that will transport you to another world.

Also, on New Year’s Day, the singer, Tosca, will be on stage presenting her show “Unico” at the Auditorium Parco della Musica. This concert is a celebration of her artistic career which began exactly thirty years ago. The evening promises to be an unforgettable experience with three acts that will showcase Tosca’s incredible talent.
