What to do in Florence in June 2025

What to do in Florence in June, at one of the most beautiful times of the year?

June is one of the best months to experience Florence: the days are long, the weather is mild, and the city comes alive with popular cultural events.

It starts with an unmissable opportunity for art lovers: on Sunday, June 1, 2025, admission to state museums will be free, as is traditional every first Sunday of the month.

An opportunity to visit without a ticket masterpieces preserved in the Uffizi, Bargello, Palazzo Pitti and many other symbolic places of Florentine culture.

For a few more days, it will be possible to visit the striking exhibition “Inside Matisse” at the Cattedrale dell'Immagine: a sensory immersion in the French master's pictorial universe of vibrant colors and dancing forms, which will close on June 2.

Through June 11, the Museo di Palazzo Vecchio hosts the powerful installation “Thomas J Price in Florence,” a contemporary dialogue between the British artist's sculptures and the city's monumental history.

At Palazzo Strozzi, one of Italy's most vibrant exhibition spaces, Tracey Emin's “Sex and Solitude,” an intimate and courageous exhibition where the British artist recounts, with disarming sincerity, the themes of the body, desire and loneliness, continues through July 20.

Finally, for those who love the Baroque and the artistic roots of Tuscany, Palazzo Medici Riccardi is dedicating an important retrospective to Giovan Battista Foggini, grand ducal architect and sculptor, on the tercentenary of his death. The exhibition, running until Sept. 9, is an opportunity to rediscover a leading figure of seventeenth-century Florence who is often undervalued.

If you're planning a visit, or if you're a Florentine and want to enjoy your city with fresh eyes, here are some appointments we've recommended and not to be missed.
